This painting was inspired by a dog named Molly. Obsessed with squirrels and with a confidence I wish to attain. At the park she actually watched a squirrel get all the way up and just waited and watched like it'd be hers. I started with the photograph I took that day. I started sketching and quickly realized if I wanted Molly to have detail I would need to change the size. A lot of playing around led me to eventually drawing the tree and Molly 1:1 ratio after all. There was no going back. I love the 1:2 ratio and other variations but the 1:1 really just shows how large that tree actually was as well as Molly's determination.
